I am 27 years old, live in Monterey County, and have been very creatively organized my entire life — a wonderful combination for wedding photography. 🙂 I have shot weddings as a 2nd shooter since 2013. And I can confidently say that I work hard to be a great teammate with and without a camera in my hand. Below I will lay out how I work as a 2nd shooter and what you can expect with me as a part of your team.
Before the event
When shooting as a secondary shooter I always try to mimic the style and ambiance of the primary photographer. I go on your website before the event and peruse the galleries to see how you light your pictures, what type of story-telling you do, and your general personality with the couple/as a photographer (via blog, about me, etc). I understand that I am there to complement and support your photographic coverage on the big day; that said, I usually gather a few business cards before heading off on my own, in case asked by a guest. I am also available to meet through Skype, Facebook Video, or email exchange if possible/desired. I usually try to exchange cell phone numbers before the day to make sure I am able to contact you before and during the event.
At the event
Whether we have “met” beforehand through Skype or email exchange, I usually try to arrive 10-15 minute early to establish bearings and get a few establishing shots. Then I would text-contact and meet up with you to discuss what you want to do for the days’ schedule. I am comfortable leaving during the bridal “getting ready” phase and getting some candid/getting ready pictures at the groom’s (or visa versa) if you’d prefer. Weddings are all about melding in and out of the background when appropriate, and I know I can lend a helping photographer-hand during the day and capture great images for you.
